Qué aprenderás
- Use PNG at 4x resolution for crisp slide deck presentations (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Keynote).
- Use vector SVG for design tools (Figma, Illustrator, Canva) or web development where lossless scaling is essential.
- Use the high-resolution raster PDF for convenient inclusion in briefing books and reports; choose SVG when editable vectors are required.
- Export transparent PNGs when overlaying charts onto dark or branded presentation slide templates.
Choose the format from the destination backward
When presenting data to executive teams, clients, or conference audiences, blurry text and jagged bar edges damage your credibility. Choosing the right export format ensures your charts look crisp across all media.
Each format optimizes a different handoff
Compare the four delivery formats
1. High-Resolution PNG (2x and 4x Scale)
Best for: PowerPoint, Google Slides, Apple Keynote, Word, Google Docs, Notion, Slack, and email newsletters.
Standard 1x PNG exports often appear pixelated when projected onto large presentation screens or viewed on Retina / 4K monitors. A 4x PNG provides ultra-sharp raster definition while remaining universally compatible with all presentation software.
2. Vector SVG
Best for: Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, web publishing, and publication layouts.
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) maintains pure mathematical vector lines and editable text paths, allowing infinite scaling without quality degradation.
3. Standalone PDF Document
Best for: Executive briefing packets, board meeting handouts, and physical print reports.
The chart is embedded as a sharp 4x raster image. Use SVG instead when your print workflow requires editable vector shapes.
4. Direct Clipboard Copy
Best for: Speed. Copy PNG or SVG markup directly to your clipboard and paste instantly into your active deck.
Use the right workflow for presentations
For PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Keynote, begin with a 4× PNG when compatibility and speed matter. Size the chart for its final place on the slide, then export rather than stretching it afterward. If a designer must recolor or rearrange individual elements, deliver SVG alongside a reference PNG.
- Use a 16:9-friendly canvas for widescreen decks.
- Preview on the actual slide background, especially when using transparency.
- Keep text comfortably readable from the back of a room; review our bar chart labels and axes guide for optimal font sizes and number formatting.
- Avoid screenshotting the editor because browser chrome, scaling, and compression reduce quality.
Prepare SVG for design and web handoff
SVG is resolution-independent and typically remains crisp at any size. It is the best handoff when a designer needs editable vectors or when the chart will be embedded directly in a web page. Confirm how the receiving application handles fonts; teams may convert text to outlines only when editability and accessibility are no longer required.
Prepare PDF and print output
PDF is convenient for briefing books and review packets because it preserves a page-like container. Check the physical size, margins, and background before printing. If the chart will be professionally typeset, provide an SVG or another editable source in addition to the PDF reference.
Plan transparent backgrounds carefully
Transparency is useful when a chart must sit on a branded slide, but every label, gridline, and legend must still contrast with that background. A chart designed on white may become unreadable on navy. Test the exported file on the real destination rather than assuming transparency is neutral, or choose pre-tested color schemes from our templates gallery.
| Destination | Primary export | Backup | Final check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slide deck | PNG 4× | SVG | Readability at presentation size |
| Figma / Illustrator | SVG | PNG reference | Font and color fidelity |
| Report / print | SVG | Margins and physical dimensions | |
| Web page | SVG or optimized PNG | Accessible data table | Responsive sizing and semantics |
| Email / chat | PNG 2× or 4× | Source link | File size and legibility |
Run the export preflight
- Set the final aspect ratio and intended display size.
- Select the format based on compatibility, editability, or print needs.
- Check labels, contrast, and source notes on the destination background.
- Open the exported file and inspect it at 100% zoom.
- Keep the chart data or share link with the asset so future edits remain possible.
